How Treatment Works
Traditional orthodontic treatment takes 12 to 18 months on average, and requires the use of uncomfortable wires and brackets. This is something that most adults would prefer to avoid. Instant orthodontics with porcelain veneers allows them to do just that. Rather than waiting a year or more to achieve a beautiful smile, porcelain veneers can provide the appearance of straighter teeth in just two dental appointments.
When a patient comes for the first step of porcelain veneers treatment, we will prepare the teeth for the placement phase of treatment by reshaping the teeth. To do this, we must remove a very small amount of tooth enamel. By removing this enamel, we ensure that the porcelain veneers will fit closely against the teeth and line up seamlessly with any untreated natural teeth. Once this is done, we will use 3-D imaging to plan and map out a set of porcelain veneers that will most closely meet the unique needs of each patient. These plans will be sent to a dental laboratory where the final veneers will be fabricated.
It typically takes about two weeks for a patient’s final porcelain veneers to be complete. When they are complete and back at our dental office, an appointment will be scheduled for placement. We will test the fit of the porcelain veneers and make any necessary adjustments before bonding them to the teeth. We will use a strong dental cement to secure the veneers to the facial surface of the teeth. After just two appointments, patients can walk out of our office with straight, beautiful teeth.
